Traditional Meatloaf

Every week I sit down and menu plan for our family. And every week I ask my husband, as well as our kids, if there is any particular dinner that they would like this week. My husband ALWAYS says, “Well you know I like meat and mashed potatoes”. Every. Single. Time.

Now growing up I don’t think I ever had Meatloaf *Gasp* I know! It seems crazy, but if I did, I don’t remember it. The only thing I knew about meatloaf before I ever tried it for myself was its bad reputation. But my husband loved it so I thought I’d try.

Over the past 10 years of marriage I’ve tried lots of versions, and slowly figured out a recipe that we really love. It’s got some sweetness from the brown sugar and also a little spice for a extra kick. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.

First up is the ingredients. Pretty simple really; Ground Beef, Bread Crumbs, an Egg, Milk, Packet of onion soup mix, Worcestershire, Garlic Powder,Onion Powder, Paprika Chili Powder, Black Pepper, Salt, Ketchup, Mustard, Brown Sugar. That’s all you’ll need to add a new family favorite to your meal plans!

Now if you’ve never used your mixer for meatloaf before. It’s a must. I really hate hand mixing that cold meat. So this is a life saver. Throw in all your meatloaf ingredients and let it mix until combined.

Next up hire some really cute helpers to put your meatloaf into a dish. We use a stone pie baker because it allows the meat to easily cook through. If you are using an actual loaf pan, you may need to add some cook time to be sure if cooks through.

All you have left it to quickly whip up the sauce and cover the top of your meatloaf. Into the oven at 350 for 1 hour and 10 minutes, then Enjoy!!

Traditional Meatloaf

Ingredients
1 1/2 lb Ground Beef

1 Cup Bread Crumbs

1 Egg

1/2 Cup Milk

1 package of dry onion soup

2 TBSP Ketchup

1 TBSP Worcestershire

1 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Onion Powder

1/4 tsp paprika

1/4 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

Salt to your preference

Sauce

2/3 Cup Ketchup

1/8 Cup Mustard

1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

Directions
1. Preheat Oven at 350

2. In a stand mixer, mix Ground Beef, Bread Crumbs, an Egg, Milk, Onion Soup package, Worcestershire, Garlic Powder,Onion Powder, Paprika Chili Powder, Black Pepper, Salt, Ketchup until combined.

3. Place meat into your baking dish, and pack thoroughly.

4. Make sauce by combining ketchup, mustard and brown sugar. Cover meatloaf with Sauce

5. Place in the oven at 350, for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
